About Teresa....
Teresa Bouchard, Occupational Therapist, wife and mother of 2 young boys, empowers parents to create the family life they want and gives parents, teachers, and childcare providers the tools and strategies they need in “Raising Respectful, Resourceful and Responsible Children”. For over 10 years now Teresa has been passionately learning about the best practices related to enhancing and strengthening Parent-Child relationships. She combines her holistic, client-centered therapy skills in helping people maintain health and well being, her knowledge of child development with the proven democratic principles and practical applications of Adlerian psychology, the pioneered effective communication techniques of child psychologist Haim Ginott , and incorporates the ever-arising evidence based benefits of developing children’s emotional intelligence. Some of her favorite like-minded authors include: Ruldolph Dreikurs, Jane Nelson, Stephen Glen, Adel Faber, Daniel Goleman , John Gottman, Barbara Coloroso, Dorothea Corkille Briggs, Alfie Kohn, Ross Greene, Mary Sheedy Krucinka, Micheal Popkin, and Don Dinkmeyer, to name a few. With having 2 young boys of her own she also has lots of personal experiences to reflect on and stories to share about the joys and challenges of raising children. From attachment, through toddler and tween autonomy development Teresa can address a wide range of children and parent needs. Teresa facilitates parent and staff workshops for various teacher-care provider-parent-child organizations and groups *, offers personalized parenting coaching/consultant services, and teaches the self developed 8 week parenting course “Raising Respectful, Resourceful and Responsible Children”. She is an active member in her children’s school PAC, organizing and facilitating parent education opportunities for parents of school aged children and is an active member of her school district COPAC. In addition Teresa is an original committee member/organizer/presenter of the Kelowna annual parenting conference “Parenting with Pizzazz”, has assisted in research projects organized by CATCH and written articles for the Okanagan Parents Magazine.
